PROGRAMS

Some of our programs require you register as a Fire youth (our "Fireflies"!). So...

How do I become a Fire youth?

Good question! We're easing back open looking for teens who are seeking a space to express themselves. Youth can register through our Google intake form (located to the right)! We also have it available in paper or can provide support over phone/zoom to complete it, if that is more accessible.

Youth are invited to any of our open programming without registration, like workshops and open mics. If a youth wants to register for a particular program, we appreciate them doing so in advance.

Fire Programs Calendar

Workshops

If you're a young person age 13-21, join us for a drop-in workshop at any workshop listed in our calendar. These workshops do not require pre-registration and are an intimate introduction for new youth, and continual ritual for returning youth. Masks are highly encouraged during in-person events at this time. Learn more about updates by Kalamazoo County Health Department here.

Free Community Store

Fire's youth led mutual aid project in collaboration with youth scholars from Confident S.O.L.E.

This is the first time we are holding space for physical distribution of resources in this form and we are learning as we go with a rooted understanding of systemic barriers, the realities and nuances of navigating houselessness, lack of necessary resources, safety and cleanliness.

Fire is a proud partner of Care Collective of SWMI and are happy to support the distribution of period kits in our free store.

Our Free Community Store is open to all while we continue to center youth's needs and desires in our space! If you are a youth age 13-21 years old we are offering Free & limited laundry use by signing up!

Want to volunteer to support the stock and flow of our free store? Please fill out this form and we would love to connect with you!

Next Store Dates: April 6th, 20th/ May 4th, May 11th, May 18th, May 25th/

Open Mics

We host the longest running poetry open mic in the state. Every first Friday of the month. Doors open at 5:30pm, with a firm start  at 6:00pm. Due to the physical capacity of the building we close doors once open mic begins! We ALWAYS prioritize youth voice & expression and will keep that same energy this year in 2023 as we welcome both adults and youth in the space since the Covid-19 pandemic. Monthly open mic event announcements can be found on our Instagram & Facebook page!
