PROGRAMS

How do I become a Fire youth?

Good question! We're open and looking for teens who are seeking a space to express themselves. Youth can register through an intake form to the right, or on paper if they come to Fire. Youth are invited to any of our open programming without registration, like workshops and open mics. If a youth wants to register for a particular program, we appreciate them doing so in advance. Check out the calendar below for the most up to date information.

WORKSHOPS

If you're a young person age 13-21, join us for a drop-in workshop at any workshop listed in our calendar. These workshops do not require pre-registration and are an intimate introduction for new youth, and continual ritual for returning youth.

KZOO YOUTH POETRY SLAM

The slam is one of our seasonal programs that requires a pre-registration. In essence, imagine adding a competitive component to an Open Mic, and competing to be one of the top 10 youth in the county. Imagine training with a coach and team to develop your individual and team pieces. Then imagine going to Detroit, Michigan for the annual Louder than a Bomb festival. It's a program that's accessible for 13-19 year olds.

OPEN MICS

We host the longest running poetry open mic in the state. Every first Friday of the month. Doors open at 6pm, with a firm start start at 6:30pm. Free & open to public. Parents, families, and artists welcome!

RETREATS/LOCK-INS/TRIPS

If you attend any of our programs, you're eligible to attend our special outings. You can sign up at Fire.
